People & Lifestyle
Rancho Palos Verdes is one of the safest cities in the greater Los Angeles area. It also offers many outdoor recreation opportunities and is known for its hiking trails and views. It is also the location of Lloyd Wright’s (son of Frank Lloyd Wright) famous
Wayfarer’s Chapel where weddings & christenings are held throughout the year. The local beaches are gorgeous and open year-round for swimming, surfing, and sunbathing. Local parks have facilities for hiking, tennis, basketball, and playgrounds for kids and our “fur-babies”. The parks department also hosts classes, sports leagues, camps for kids, and special holiday events. Golfing is also an extremely popular pastime. Living in this community is like being on vacation all the time.
Dining, Entertainment & Shopping
The two main shopping centers in the city are
Promenade on the Peninsula and the
Peninsula Shopping Center. The Promenade has a Pottery Barn, Chico’s, Equinox Fitness, and a Regal Theater while the center has Target, Ulta Beauty Store, TJ Maxx, and more.
One of the best places to dine out is at Terranea Resort and features 4 restaurants on their property to satisfy any craving you can think of! And don’t forget to relax and spend a day at the spa…and maybe even book a room to “get away” for the weekend.
Additionally, Del Amo Fashion Center, the largest shopping center in the western US, is located less than 5 miles away. The mall is anchored by Nordstroms, Macy’s – including Men’s and Home Store and JC Penny’s, and there is plenty of eclectic offering of dining options!
Things to Do
Point Vincente Interpretive Center, owned by the city, provides educational information on the history of the PV Peninsula and the migrating Gray whales that can be viewed from the Center’s vantage point during May-December. The Center is run by an organization known as Los Sereno's docents. They also provide a number of free public walks, hikes, and tours to the many area parks and nature reserves.
Golfing is a major pastime of RPV residents who take advantage of living near both the Los Verdes Golf Club and the Trump National Golf Course. Although it may feel like summer all year round, the city hosts Drive-In Movie Nights at the Park and a Summer Concert Series at Terranea Resort.
