San Pedro is a unique and vibrant area. The pulse of the town is the Los Angeles Harbor and the many opportunities for sports and recreation. Diving, Jet Skiing, Sport Fishing, Sailing, Swimming, and Windsurfing are some of the activities available. There are a variety of educational opportunities, youth programs, athletic programs, parks, and recreational opportunities. Dining, Shopping & Entertainment

The historic heart of San Pedro is steps away from the USS Iowa Battleship Museum and the waterfront and features an amazing mix of architecture, shops, hotels, restaurants, art galleries, studios, and theaters. Several restaurants, pubs, and coffee houses offer outdoor dining and nightly entertainment. This area is known for 1st Thursdays when the 1st Thursday of every month there is free music, dancing, and entertainment in the streets.

Some of the more notable restaurants are 22nd Street Landing Seafood Bar & Grill for all of your seafood favorites and stunning views. Babouch Moroccan Restaurant is recognized for its outstanding Mediterranean cuisine, excellent service, and live entertainment including Belly Dancers!

Things to Do

San Pedro's Los Angeles Waterfront is an adventure unto itself with Cruise Ships, Promenades, Cafes, and much more. Visitors and residents enjoy spacious parks, ocean breezes, and scenic drives along the hillside providing amazing and stunning views of Catalina Island and the Pacific Ocean! Los Angeles Maritime Museum has exhibits that highlight the history of Los Angeles and include ship and boat models, the fishing and canning industry, the US Navy, figureheads, and an amateur radio station.
 
The Cabrillo Marine Aquarium is an educational and research facility that provides opportunities to see and learn about the fascinating marine environment of southern California including multiple aquariums touch tanks, and fascinating exhibits of local marine life. Cabrillo Marina, located adjacent to the aquarium, accommodates recreational vessels with 885 permanent boat slips from 25 to 75 feet long and is a great way to begin a fun-filled nautical experience. The Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club is a great way to connect with others after a day on the ocean.
 
Point Fermin Park consists of 37 landscaped acres of tree-shaded lawns, sheltered pergolas, colorful gardens, and a promenade along the edge of the palisade. The vantage point atop the rugged bluffs affords a breathtaking view of the coast toward Santa Catalina Island. You may even be able to spot playful dolphins and harbor seals from the cliffs. There are picnic areas, a playground, and a small amphitheater.

San Pedro is served by the Los Angeles Unified School District and offers a variety of excellent public and private school options.
 
LAUSD has a Magnet School program that offers a range of educational possibilities. Magnet programs are voluntary integration opportunities available to students in grades K-12. the magnet schools located in San Pedro are the South Shores Performing Arts Magnet, the Dodson Gifted High Ability Magnet, the Police Academy Magnet at San Pedro High School, the San Pedro Marine/Math Science Technology Magnet.
